"Agent State from Health Service Watcher" view
http://blogs.technet.com/momteam/archive/2010/05/21/how-do-i-get-a-list-of-grey-agents.aspx I was reading the above blog post, and I went to take a look at what was going on in my environment, and I noticed that a bunch of systems in the ""Agent State from Health Service Watcher" view were showing a status of "Not Monitored", while the same system in the "Agent State" view was showing "Healthy" with a Green check. I understand that the "Agent State from Health Service Watcher" view means that from the standpoint of the Ops Mgr server there is a problem with the agent, so how do I go about troubleshooting all these systems which are not monitored? Bonus question - I would love to know how to query the "Agent State from Health Service Watcher" field in the database. We use scheduled reports via Reporting Services to e-mail us daily status reports (so we don't have to rely on looking at the views). Thanks, Reuvy

Hi Reuvy There are some agent info sql queries here that might be of assistance: http://blogs.technet.com/kevinholman/archive/2007/10/18/useful-operations-manager-2007-sql-queries.aspx Also, if you want to report against agent availability, I've done a run through here: http://systemcentersolutions.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/availability-reporting1.pdf For servers that are listed as not monitored, check: - operationsmanager event log on agent - operationsmanager event log on their Primary Management Server and also on RMS - is there something in common with the systems that are listed as not monitored? Clusters? A particular application? Different domain \ forest? Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Hiya Graham, I do notice that most of the systems down are actually Virtual Machines (of various OSs) that are part of a 2008 R2 Hyper-V Cluster. Not only the VMs, but also the host (physical) servers as well. But again, they are only showing up as "Not Monitored" in the "Agent State from Health Service Watcher" section, while in the "Agent State" section they show up ok. Reuvy

Hi Reuvy, We had this same issue, try the following which worked for us. In the Agent Health State view. Put the affected Health Service Watcher object(s) into maintenance mode Wait until the object(s) appear as unmonitored remove from maintenance mode SJM
